Las Vegas Youth Arts, Music & Education (LVYAME) is a volunteer group, which provides orchestra performances at senior care facilities and children’s hospitals. Our youth group
includes youngsters and teens from 9 to 17 years of age, and includes a Cellist, Violinist, Violist, Flutist, and Drummer.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of patients in children’s hospitals and senior centers. We bring joy and happiness to the members of our audience, helping to relieve stress, anger, anxiety, and for many loneliness. But as volunteers, we also reap many benefits. We develop leadership skills, feel involved in our community, and use our skills in a productive way. In fact, we feel that volunteering our time and energy is the best way for us to show our civic responsibility. In addition, we become better skilled musicians, develop teamwork, and become more committed and confident. We believe that the core principle of volunteering is giving and that what we do makes our society better.
We rehearse often, helping us to develop a number of marketable skills and social benefits, which result in immediate and lifelong achievements. Being part of an orchestra creates bonds of friendship and we have learned that everyone is different and the same at the same time. Finally, we are very proud of ourselves when we see the joy it brings to the members of our audience, some even with tears of joy.
